Our sustainability policy:
We believe that applying sound sustainability practices contributes to our competitive strength, benefits our team members, customers, and shareholders, and improves the quality of life in our communities of operation. To guide us toward the integration of sustainable practices across all our operations, PaperWorks has adopted the following principles:
We will strive to:
- Integrate sustainability criteria and metrics into facility process improvement and productivity as applicable
- Reduce energy use, water consumption and greenhouse gas emissions through the integration of energy efficiency and pollution prevention programs
- Work with our customers to develop packaging solutions that minimize the impact and maximize the benefit to individuals and communities throughout the life cycle of their packaging
- Provide for and actively support forestry certification processes (SFI ® & FSC ®)
- Encourage our suppliers and contractors to adopt sound environmental management practices
- Educate and inform our team members on sustainability so that everyone may be engaged
- Provide for and support our team members towards the development of an accident and injury-free workplace
- Engage with our stakeholders and the communities where we operate to ensure we understand their values and work collaboratively toward maximizing the positive impact we can leave
We also strive to go beyond legal compliance at our facilities by implementing an Environmental Management System (EMS) to more effectively manage the environmental aspects and impacts of our manufacturing processes and ensure continuous improvement towards these principles.
Under the guidance of our Associate Director of Environmental Health and Safety, all PaperWorks team members are responsible for observing and advancing our sustainability policy and programs, which are supported and developed by our Executive Management Team.
